‘Craft Hub’ for Northern Ireland
The Craft & Design Collective is delighted to announce that it has appointed consultants to undertake a Feasibility Study, funded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, for a ‘Centre for Craft, Applied Art and Design’ or ‘Craft Hub’ for Northern Ireland.
The Craft & Design Collective is working in partnership with Craft Northern Ireland to make this project happen.
To all intents and purposes, the Craft & Design Collective has successfully piloted a ‘Craft Hub’ in Belfast at Space CRAFT despite the current economic climate, location and lack of resources. We would now like to take the idea of a ‘Craft Hub’ to another level.
The aim of the project is to provide a world-class centre and resource dedicated to the celebration, support and promotion of regional, national and international Craft, Applied Art and Design.
We aim to stimulate greater understanding of Craft, Applied Art and Design and provide enriching experiences for as many people as possible, through a dynamic programme of high quality exhibitions, participatory learning, events, retail gallery and studio space, et al… Think of a ‘Ministry of Making’ with Departments of Ceramics, Glass, Jewellery/Silversmithing, Textiles…
The Feasibility Study will be completed by 31 March 2017.
We live in exciting times…
Dare To Dream!
